New Holland starts selling biomethane-powered tractor in Brazil

New Holland seeks to be a world leader in sustainable technology within the agricultural machinery and implements sector. The Italian brand launches at Agrishow a new tractor powered by biomethane for the Brazilian market, capable of emitting 20% less CO2 than vehicles powered by biodiesel.
The vehicle, now available for sales in Brazil, has been on sale in the European and North American markets since last year. Today, 60 tractors of this model are already operating in Europe and five in the United States, more specifically in California.
As much as there is a difference in the fuels that drive the vehicle, there is no loss of efficiency in the product's capacity. "The methane-powered tractor has the same performance as the diesel engine. We have already produced the first 100 units. It is a vehicle that generates environmental and economic sustainability, since the biomethane produced in the same company costs much less than carbon", said the Italian Carlo Lambro, global president of New Holland, present at the fair in Ribeirão Preto (SP).
The brand's Latin America product marketing director, Cláudio Calaça, believes that "New Holland is already recognized worldwide for clean energy, was the first to bring biodiesel engines and, in 2013, the first to test biomethane tractors".
